Crisis is no longer an exceptional event limited to specific sectors or circumstances. In a world characterised by growing complexity, interdependence and volatility, the ability to prepare for crisis has become one of the most important strategic capabilities for any organisation.
These were the themes explored during the webinar organised by AIFOS – the Italian Association of Occupational Safety Trainers and Practitioners – entitled “Crisis Preparedness: Approaches, Responsibilities and Tools for Organisations.”
Together with Andrea Cirincione and Antonio Buccellato, and under the moderation of Lara Calanni Pileri, we examined crisis from several complementary perspectives:
understanding the nature of contemporary crises and developing appropriate preparedness capabilities;
reflecting on the role of responsibility, trust and stakeholder repair processes;
translating theories and models into practical tools and operational approaches for managing critical events.
The discussion highlighted how crisis management can no longer be viewed solely as an emergency response function. Preparedness, decision-making capability, organisational culture, leadership and stakeholder relationships are now essential elements in dealing with high-impact, high-uncertainty events.
At TT&A Advisors, we have long maintained that crisis management does not begin when a disruptive event occurs. It begins much earlier, through the development of capabilities, procedures, trusted relationships and the ability to navigate uncertainty. Preparedness remains the single most important factor distinguishing resilient organisations from vulnerable ones.
Our thanks go to AIFOS for organising the event and to all participants who contributed with questions, insights and valuable experiences.
For those who were unable to attend the live session, the full webinar recording (in italian) is available on YouTube:
Buona visione.
