Real or fake?

On July 10th. President Trump met with several African leaders at the White House among whom Liberian President Joseph Boakai. In a typical Trump moment the US President Trump told Boakai he speaks "such good English", asking where he went to school. Following the incident, in this video Joseph Boakai speaks his mind. But is it real or fake? This is obviously the wrong question to ask. By simply being plausible, it is automatically real.
Multiple recent risk studies and executive reports identify deepfakes as an urgent and high-priority threat for CEOs and leadership teams. The WEF Global Risks Report 2025 for example places deepfakes and the broader risk of ‘misinformation and disinformation’ are ranked as the top short-term global threat for two consecutive years, surpassing more traditional concerns like cyber-attacks, inflation, and sovereign debt crises. Board-level discussions, especially among CEOs, are now placing synthetic media at the top of their risk assessments.
